<title>Garibaldi in His Time: An Exhibit from the Anthony P. Campanella Collection</title>
<description>The Anthony P. Campanella Collection is a resource of major significance on Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882) and the Risorgimento, the series of political movements and military struggles which resulted in a unified Italy. Apart from the wars and territorial redistributions of the Napoleonic period, the successful struggle for Italian unification was the most influential and far-reaching political event in nineteenth-century Europe. The intellectual and political consequences of these events extended far beyond the boundaries of Italy. Garibaldi, "the hero of two worlds" and the leading standard-bearer of nineteenth-century liberal nationalism, was at its heart.
